This course will focus on foundational concepts and the use of patient-care technologies necessary for safe, patient-centered nursing care across the life span while integrating legal/ethical responsibilities of the nurse. The course introduces the importance of evidence-based nursing practice that is developmentally and culturally appropriate in the care of adult, older adults and pediatric clients with well-defined conditions. Critical thinking in nursing, the nursing process, acquisition of beginning nursing skills and therapeutic communication techniques used when interacting with clients, families, significant others and members of the interprofessional team are covered.
